About Me

So what's my story?

I’ve been a writer for over 20 years. But like all of us, I've traveled various roads that have all led me to this overarching theme - writing.  Here are some of them:

I’ve been an actress on South African television (Muvhango, Scandal,  Backstage) including TV ads (MTN, ABSA) ; TV presenter on cable (for Absa Private Bank); public speaker (event host for Vega: the Brand School's Annual Awards, event host for ADvTECH annual meeting, motivation speeches, speaker introductions, etc.) and radio voice-overs; mass communications specialist and entrepreneur (co-founded MCG Communications).

I write for a Japanese newspaper, a local magazine and have written for lifestyle and advocacy publications. I’ve written and designed newsletters for PR clients; been published in the Sentinel and Journal, publications in the stable of award-winning newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor; wrote an African Studies program for Vega: the Brand School; wrote a weekly blog known as, The Trailwalker, for withu.org. I have edited various published materials including the book, "The Worst Day Fishing" (St. Michael's Publishing, 2008) written by Travis G. Penrod and Jacquelyn O. de Laveaga. I’ve also utilized my classical piano training as a music and movement instructor for pre-schoolers at Woodentots in Hong Kong.

As a published author of the children's book The Contest, I've written more books in this series. I'm currently working on a new children's book focused on bullying. I also have a Master of Journalism from Temple University, Philadelphia.

I’ve also worked in the nonprofit space as Executive Director for an arts organization and currently sit on the boards of Bainbridge Performing Arts, Principia, and Common Ground Committee.

I live on Bainbridge Island. And yes, I am also a mom. Two kids.  The Contest is my first children’s book.
